Student Association
What is it?
We are the Voice of the Student, voted onto the Committee by you, the student population and working hard all year round for the college community.
What do you do?
We act as the formal and regular link through to College Management. The Association meets weekly to discuss plans and budgets for events, receive information about college developments and provide views on issues relating to campus life.
But more importantly we are the group who organise the social events including parties and discos as well as working with and raising funds for all the college sports teams.
What are you planning for 2010?
There were lots happening in the first term including the Christmas Ball, but more to come in 2010 such as the Sportsman Dinner, Valentines Ball, Summer Ball, trips and outings as well as our fortnightly discos.
Our Rag Week will include a sponsored silence, tractor pull, tug of war and fancy dress events and competitions and of course we get involved with national events such as Children in Need and Red Nose Day. We try to raise as much money as possible for local charities and agree amongst us which charity to work for at any given time. This year's charities are the Dogs Trust and Teenage Cancer Trust.
What is the social highlight of the year?
It has to be the Summer Ball. Everyone has the chance to dress up and celebrate the end of the academic year, their successful grades and their fond farewells!
What advice would you give to a new student?
Get involved! It’s so easy to make new friends by taking part in college activities from the very start of the year. The Association are always looking for new ideas for events and all you have to do is tell us.
