Motoring Towards Great Career
Promising engineering student Tim Bell is motoring towards a great career after scooping a prestigious award from the Institute of Motor Industry as the region's top apprentice. Tim (21) has just completed his Work Based Learning (WBL) course. Tim said "I've always wanted to be an engineer - I've always been quite mechanically minded."


Daniel Marsden
Dairy farmer Daniel Marsden took first place in the sheep section of the College's Stockmanship competition. Daniel was delighted with his win. "I'm really pleased to have won the sheep section. It's been hard work. When we first started she was jumping all over the place." Bishop Burton's competition is the only College Stockmanship event in the UK.


Crufts Winner
Animal Management student Stephanie Blanchard and her dog Kazu (a Japanese Akita Inu) took first place in the Special Junior Japanese Akita Inu class in the Utility Group. Kazu then went on to take third place in the Best Dog class. By coming first in his class Kazu has automatically qualified for Crufts 2009.


Dale Griffin
National Diploma in Agriculture student Dale took first place in the beef section of the College's 2008 stockmanship competition. Entrants are given six weeks to prepare their animal for show, which includes monitoring diet, exercise, grooming, and training their animal to walk on a halter. Dale is now determined to carve out a successful career in the industry.


Street Art Winner
Declan Chambers winning designs are set to brighten up Beverley town centre alleyway. Art students Adam Black and Declan Chambers entered their artwork into a town competition designed to brighten up the "Narrow Racket" alleyway in Beverley. Their winning designs will now be put up in the alley for all to see.


Naomi Suggett
Naomi took part in the Lifestyle Project 2007. This is an initiative run by Humberside Police which encourages people to get active in their community. Naomi's team sorted out an area of amenity land which was in a state of neglect. They cleared rubbish, pruned the trees, trimmed all the grass and had a bench and large barrel planter donated.


Equine Stockman Of The Year
Equine student Anna Bulmer took the top prize in the equine section of the 2008 Stockmanship Competition. Anna also took on the role of Student Association President in what was her final year at the College. Anna, who entered with 15-year-old Conan, said "I've spent a lot of time with Conan before the event to make sure he's comfortable with me. I'm really please I won, the event was thoroughly enjoyable."
